24 credits

A minor in political science requires 24 credits, of which 16 credits must be upper-division level. All 24 credits must be taken for letter grades and passed with grades of C- or better. Because the Department of Political Science primarily offers 4-credit classes, the average student will complete the PS minor with six (6) political science courses. Up to eight (8) credits may be transferred from another institution.

The following courses are restricted to a maximum of six (6) credits toward the political science minor:

  • PS 401 Research
  • PS 405 Reading
  • PS 408 Workshop

The following courses may not count toward the political science minor in any capacity:

  • PS 403 Thesis
  • PS 404 Internship
  • PS 406/LERC 406 Internship
  • PS 409 Practicum
  • PS 411 Honors Thesis Prospectus
  • CAS 417 Career Readiness
  • OINT 488 Overseas Studies: Internships

These minor requirements are available in print-friendly form on the Political Science Minor Progress Worksheet. The expectations of both political science majors and minors are listed more comprehensively in the Political Science Majors & Minors document. Questions about the minor that are not addressed here may be directed to polisci@uoregon.edu.
