Travel and Study Around the World
Environmental problems are global problems. Students can examine specific cultural, political, geographic, and ecological contexts for environmental problems and solutions.
Many study abroad programs include hands-on opportunities such as meeting with community leaders, conducting research, and giving back to communities through reciprocal service. Some include adventures like backpacking to explore natural resource management issues.
Students can also gain work experience through internships sponsored by GlobalWorks and similar programs.
Study Abroad with UO
The University of Oregon offers almost 30 study abroad programs that can satisfy your ENVS or ESCI major or minor requirements. Programs are currently offered in the UK, Greece, Italy, Curacao, New Zealand, Bolivia, Palau, Ecuador, Australia, Latvia, South Korea, Svalbard, South Africa, Iceland, Tanzania, Indonesia, Thailand, Belize, Nepal, Botswana, Mongolia, and Peru. Alternatively, you can intern abroad through the GlobalWorks International Internship program.
International Exchange
Students can enroll as an exchange student at a top international research institution for fall or winter semester, spring semester or quarter, a full academic year, or summer term. Exchange students experience an immersive study abroad experience, living and learning with local students in their chosen city.

A sponsored GEO program, Wildlands Studies field project programs offer the rare opportunity to study critical environmental and wildlife concerns on six continents and sixteen different countries. Nomadic by design, the field-based courses evolve annually to match the latest ecological research of the region.

Credits: 15 credits designed to fulfill ENVS and ESCI major and minor requirements (Area 3A Life Science, Area 4, and Area 3B Social Science)
