Funding and Research Support

The Asian Studies Program offers (when possible) graduate employment (GE) to its top applicants. Graduate employment provides important benefits:

  • A tuition waiver up to 16 credits
  • Usually a .40 FTE salary
  • Health benefits

The General Duties and Responsibilities Statement (GDRS) lays out the specifics of the rights and responsibilities of and for each GE. GE assignments may be in Asia content courses, taught in English, or in East Asian language classes, depending on applicant abilities and program needs.

Asian Studies Award

The Asian Studies Award recognizes oral, poster, and creative work presentations focused on a topic in the broad, interdisciplinary field of Asian Studies and characterized by excellence in research and clarity of delivery.

Eligibility: Must present at the Asian Studies Research Event
Award: One $300 award and two $100 honorable mention awards
