Peace Corps Prep Certificate

The Peace Corps Prep certificate program's main purpose is to prepare students for applying to serve as Peace Corps volunteers in their chosen sector and geographic area. Peace Corps Prep is also designed to help you become a more knowledgeable and empathetic global citizen, by developing intercultural skills and awareness, and encouraging you to reflect on your place in the global community.

This minor and certificate is open to all students regardless of their career plans, and it adds a valuable global service dimension to any career pathway. Students enrolled in the program receive one-on-one support from the program’s advising team and walk-throughs of the Peace Corps application by the on-campus Peace Corps recruiter.

Students who complete the global service minor also receive a Peace Corps Preparation certificate, both of which appear on a student’s diploma.

Why Minor in Global Service?

Although the Peace Corps Prep Certificate does not guarantee acceptance into the Peace Corps, it can provide students with an advantage if they apply. It helps students to acquire the intercultural knowledge and competencies that are essential for success in the communities and workplaces of today.

The Peace Corps Prep program will help you acquire the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to serve in the U.S. Peace Corps. While acceptance to Peace Corps is never guaranteed, the specialized curriculum and experience you gain through Peace Corps Prep can increase your chances. Additionally, it will increase your competitiveness in the job market by expanding your global awareness and by providing experiences that will give added value to most careers even if you do not choose service in the Peace Corps.
