Undergraduate Program

Why Minor in Global Health?

Global health is the interdisciplinary study of population and public health coupled with an international perspective. Faculty members in the program engage in diverse research, including bioethical research, biocultural analyses of stress biomarkers, historical analyses of health interventions and disease prevention campaigns—and more.

Kavi Shrestha

“Taking my first global health classes changed my trajectory. I found a way to combine my desires to improve people’s health and deal with the structural factors at play. The coursework prepared me with knowledge of community-based health and public health interventions ranging from education campaigns to policy responses. It also prepared me to deal with questions about the ethics of fieldwork and international work."

—Kavi Shrestha, political science, global studies major, global health minor, 2024
