Undergraduate Program

Why Minor in European Studies?

Our program distinguishes itself from other European studies programs with its broad interdisciplinary approach, combining not just the social sciences—principally history, geography, and political science—but other disciplines as well.

Our attention to the contemporary situation is enriched by a deep sense of history extending back even to classical antiquity. By studying the European Union, we can study the progress of a great social experiment in all its lived reality, and our students can consider the interaction of the full range of human forces combining to create 21st century Europe.

Live and Study in Europe

You are not required to study or to work in Europe, but we strongly encourage you to do so. The best way to get to know a place is to spend time there. By living in Europe, even for one term, you can observe, first-hand, the developments and conditions that you have studied in class while also dramatically improving your language skills.

Advising and Academic Support

The advisors in Tykeson Hall work closely with all university advising teams to ensure students have a clear understanding of departmental requirements. No matter what your undergraduate major is, continue to reach out to the advising team in Tykeson first for your general undergraduate advising needs.

All graduating seniors are encouraged to set up an appointment with an advisor in the first few weeks of your graduating term as a starting point to go over any questions you may have.
