The award is an endowment in the name of Dale Underwood, a former undergraduate major in economics. It funds an annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000 for the graduate student who is deemed by the Department of Economics Core Committee to have the most outstanding performance on the first offering of the Core Exam. The award is distributed to the winning student in recognition of their outstanding performance and with the intent of facilitating the student’s transition from foundational course work towards his or her graduate research program in the Department of Economics at the University of Oregon.
